Before you can replace the
washer transmission you need to have an idea on how
to remove it and how to install the new one.
You will also need to know how
the transmission works to be able to diagnose it
properly.
A repair company will charge
about $250 to replace the transmission or gear box
in your washer.
If you do it yourself, you
could do it for at least half that price.
The job of the transmission is
make the washer agitate when the motor runs in a
counterclockwise direction and make it spin when the
motor runs in a clockwise direction.
If any of the internal gears
break or wear out, the transmission will need to be
replace. It is possible to rebuilt the transmission,
but I don't do any rebuilding I replace them. So I
don't have any information on rebuilding at all.
To be able to replace the
transmission you will need to remove the agitator
first.
Then you will need to remove
the cabinet, the pump, the motor wire harness and
the motor. |
