Let me explain to you how the Whirlpool direct drive
washer motor coupler works
The motor
coupler is use instead of a belt, it has 3 pieces. Two
plastic pieces called fingers and a round rubber piece
called a coupler
One of the fingers is
pressed on the motor shaft, the other finger is pressed
on the transmission shaft and the rubber piece is
sandwich between the fingers
When the
motor turns in a clockwise direction, the motor coupler
turns the transmission on spin
When the
motor turns in a counterclockwise direction, the motor
coupler turns the transmission on agitation
The major reason why the motor coupler breaks is because
the washer is overloaded with clothes
Replacing the motor coupler could cost you $140 or more
if you have a repairman do the repair for you.
You could do the repair yourself with the help of my
videos for less than $30 and that includes the motor
coupler and my videos.
The easier way to
learn how to do this repair is by seeing how it is done. |
