Let me tell you how the brake & drive tube works so you
could understand what it does
The brake &
drive tube has two jobs. When the motor runs in a
clockwise direction, the clutch will make it spin and
when the motor runs in a counterclockwise direction it
applies the brake to hold the spin drum from moving
while the washer agitates.
The brake cam
driver which is part of the clutch is attached to this
part. It also has two brake shoes or bands.
The major problem with this part is that the basket
drive block sometimes damage the two locking tabs on it.
Also rust and dirt on the brake drum will make the
washer dead stop after the spin cycle causing it shake
the complete washer.
To replace the brake
& drive tube you will need to remove the agitator,
basket drive block and transmission. |
