The water mixing valve is the part that allows water to
come into the washer tub according to the selection made
on the water temperature switch.
This
water valve has two solenoids that when electricity
flows through them, they open the corresponding chamber
in the valve.
One is for the cold water and the other one is for the hot
water.
This how it supposed to work:
On
the beginning of a cycle the timer will send electricity
to the water temperature switch. The water temperature
switch sends electricity to the solenoids according to
the selection on the switch.
When
electricity flows through a solenoid creates a strong
magnetic force that pulls the water valve plunger and
opens the water valve chamber allowing water to enter
the washer. If the solenoid fails to open the water valve chamber,
the valve remains closed and no water comes into the
washer. When one of the solenoids fails
to open or close the chamber, the valve is bad and must
be replace as a unit.
Most of the causes
for the water valve to need to be replace are bad
solenoids, broken valve body or damaged threads. |
