If you want to be able to take
care of any filling problems with your Whirlpool
washer, you will need to learn what parts are
involve in the filling cycle.
The first thing that you will
need to check when you have a filling problem is the
water faucets. You will need to make sure that they
are opened and that there is water coming out of
them.
It may sound kind of dumb, but
I have gone to many repairs that the complaint was
that the washer wasn't taking in any cold water and
found out that someone has shut the cold water and
forgot to turn it back on.
The next thing that you will
need to check is the water valve filters. You need
to make sure that the filters are clean. Dirty water
valve filters are a common problem with the washer
not filling properly.
If the water faucets are
opened, the water valve filter are clean and the
washer still not filling properly, you will need to
keep check the rest of the parts involve in the
filling circuit.
The next thing to check is the
water mixing valve. The water mixing valve is the
part that the two fill hoses connect to behind the
washer.
The water valve uses two
solenoids to open and close the cold and hot water
ports. A solenoid has a coil of fine wire that when
electricity flows through the coil creates a strong
electro magnet that lift a plunger allowing water to
flow in to the washer.
You will need to use a
multimeter to check the coils resistance. If one of
the coils burns, the water valve will need to be
replace as a complete unit.
The next part that you will
need to check is the water temperature switch. If
this switch fails to send electricity to the water
valve solenoid according to the selection on the
switch, your Whirlpool made direct drive washer will
not fill properly.
Then you have the timer. The
timer will send electricity to the water temperature
switch and the water temperature switch will send
electricity to the water valve solenoid according to
the selection on the water temperature switch.
As you could see there are a
few parts that have to be working properly in order
for your Whirlpool made direct drive washer to be
able to fill the way that it supposed to. |
