Let me explain what have to
happened in order for the Whirlpool direct drive
washer to agitate.
When you set the washer on the
beginning of any of the cycles the washer starts to
fill with water.
After the washer fills to the
selected level, the water level switch switches from
the empty position to the full position. Electricity
flows to the motor and the motor start running.
Between the motor and the
transmission is the motor coupler. The motor turns
the motor coupler and the motor coupler turn the
transmission shaft.
The gearcase or transmission shaft turns
the agitation shaft. The agitation shaft turns the
agitator. That is the way that the washer agitates.
If the problem with your
Whirlpool direct drive washer is that the washer
fills with water and the motor runs, but the agitator
won't agitate, you will need to check the motor coupler,
the agitator, the agitator dogs and the gearcase or transmission.
If the problem with the washer
is that the washer fills with water but the motor
won't run, then you will need to check the motor,
the door switch and the timer.
As you could see, there are few
parts that have to be working properly in order for
the Whirlpool direct drive washer to agitate.
So you have to check each one
of the parts mention above until you find the part causing the problem.
Replacing parts by taking a guess could be very
expensive and time consuming. |
