In order to be able to diagnose and repair your
Whirlpool 29 inch gas dryer when it won't start,
you will need to know what parts to check in the
starting circuit
Let me explain to you
how the electricity flows through the dryer during the
starting circuit. Electricity flows from
the wall outlet through the power cord to the terminal
L1 on timer and N terminal on the door switch From L1 at the
timer electricity flows through the
start & run windings in the motor From
the motor electricity flows to the start switch and it
is waiting there until the start switch is pushed or turned.
When the push switch is turn on electricity flows
through the switch to the door switch.
if the door switch is close, then the dryer motor should
start running. So, as you could see,
there are many parts that have to be working properly in
order for the dryer to be able to start.
