The door switch is a safety device that is wired in
series with the motor circuit.
The purpose of this switch is to prevent the motor from
starting any time that dryer door is opened by the user
The same switch is used on gas or electric dryers and is
check & replaced the same way
Some door switches are single pole single throw
switches, this mean that all they do is turn on or turn
off. Other door switches are single pole
double throw switches, this mean that the switch
activate two circuits. One circuit is the motor circuit
and the other one is the circuit for the light inside of
the dryer drum to see the clothes when you open the
dryer door.
