The operating thermostat is in charge of
controlling the temperature inside of the dryer drum.
The Hi-limit thermostat is a safety device
located on the metal casing of the heating element. It
is use to open the heating element circuit if the heat
is below 300 degrees in the heating element box
The thermal cutoff thermostat is another safety
device or switch use to open the heating element circuit
if the temperature in the heating element box rises over
325 degrees and the Hi-limit thermostat fails to open at
250 degrees The thermal cutoff is a not
resettable thermostat and when it blows, you will need
to replace it with a new one. As you
could see there are many parts that have to be working
properly in order for the dryer to produce heat.
The best way to learn how to check & replace the
thermostats is by seeing how it is done.
