Replacing a transmission on a GE front serviceable washer is a big job that you should think about it before attempting to do so In order to replace a bad transmission you will need to remove the following parts You will need to remove the agitator & the agitator coupler. Then you will need a spanner nut wrench to remove the spanner nut that is holding the spin drum Next you will need to disconnect the four spring & rod assemblies that suspend the complete tub assembly in the middle of the cabinet Then you will need to remove the the complete tub assembly and set it upside down Remove the transmission bracket and remove the transmission, to install the new transmission, reverse the procedure I don't recommend replacing a bad transmission on this washer because it is expensive and time consuming.
